Born in Long Beach, CA, just after the family came to the US from Austria, Lisa spent her early years mostly in Seal Beach, CA.

After the family moved to Santa Cruz, she attended Santa Cruz High School, and UC Santa Cruz, receiving a B.A. in Biology/Biochemistry in 1982. College graduation was followed by a series of work engagements in various biotech companies around the Bay Area.

in 1988 she went on to work as a drafter, learning how to use the earliest CAD programs and from there went into graphic arts, earning a Certificate in Graphic Production from UCSC Extension in 1997. In 1998 she took a class in html spent some time exploring web design.

Alongside raising 2 sons, Lisa spent some time working as a freelance graphic artist and 8 years working for a Scotts Valley newspaper, where she was bitten by the FileMaker bug. She taught herself FileMaker programming and was subsequently put in charge of maintaining and further developing the company databases and executing data-related special projects.

Expanding on her html experience, she taught herself how to use Dreamweaver and created a company website containing numerous submission forms also revising the company's databases to extract submitted data. When the newspaper was sold to a larger organization, Lisa ventured into freelance Filemaker programming and not long after began her work with Beezwax.

In addition to building databases, Lisa is also very much enjoys teaching Filemaker and is looking forward to future opportunities to "share the wealth" in that regard.

Outside of her Filemaker projects, she also enjoys gardening, exploring other places, doing small building projects, conversations, hanging out in bookstores and cafes as well as just about anything creative. Still on the to-do list: learning another language and learning how to work with glass as an art material.
