Born in Manhattan, raised in New Jersey; moved to Oakland in 1993 with the intention of staying for one year to finish college, then realized that cold winter is optional.

Andrew began using FileMaker Pro in 1996, as the signmaker at Whole Foods Market in Berkeley, California. He helped transition the store from the laborious process of generating signs one-by-one, using PageMaker and Quark, to an automated FileMaker system that could be used to generate hundreds of sale signs every month.

Around that time he met Julian Nadel, president of Beezwax, at the Burning Man festival. Years later -- in 2000 -- Andrew and Julian ran into each other at a mutual friend's birthday party. Beezwax happened to be expanding, and Julian asked Andrew if he had any FileMaker skills. He was in search of a more challenging, interesting, and rewarding job, so....

Though the initial intention was for Andrew to become a FileMaker developer, the company's administrative needs kept him busy. Over the years, as Andrew and the company both grew, he evolved from Office Manager to Project Coordinator to Senior Account Manager to his current position as Director of Operations.

Andrew lives in Los Angeles, where he moved (bringing his job with him) with his wife, the choreographer Samantha Giron, to get her MFA from CalArts. Having unexpectedly fallen in love with Los Angeles, timing of their anticipated return to the Bay Area is not yet known....

Andrew still pursues his lifelong love of writing, with two short novels currently being shopped around by his agent, and (being in L.A.) several screenwriting projects in progress. Samples of his work can be found at http://www.argawarga.com.
