Ever since he was a kid, he’s enjoyed taking computers apart and putting them back together, searching for answers to technical problems faced by himself and the people around him, and always pushing the boundaries of his knowledge.
During his computer science studies at UC Berkeley, Josh took a course on software engineering taught in the powerful and practical Ruby on Rails framework. Seeing its potential to allow him to quickly build amazing software, he decided to invest deeper into learning Ruby and Rails as he prepared to begin his career in the world of software development. After graduating, he worked at a real estate technology startup, automating many of the processes used to manage its nationwide network of real estate agents, building tools for business intelligence and auditing, and making key contributions to the sales and outreach platforms used to rapidly grow the company. This experience proved invaluable toward building his skills in everything from requirements gathering and specification refinement, through to database optimization, UI/UX design, and Ruby/Rails best practices and continuous integration.
When he’s not happily hacking away, Josh enjoys playing new and creative computer games, spending time at home and in meatspace with his family, friends and girlfriend, and attempting to keep his dogs and the neighborhood squirrels from destroying his garden. (He’s always open to pointers on that last one).
