As a developer and consultant, Matt cites an attraction to working at Beezwax because of the team’s “collaborative and forward-thinking approach to business”. He’s able to solve technical problems by relying on his passions for learning and creating. In that light, Matt’s journey to become a developer actually started when he studied philosophy and studio art at the University of Virginia (UVA). He spent several years living and working in an art studio to pursue his passion for painting. Later, that developed into an interest in yoga and dance. He began seriously practicing ashtanga and dharma yoga, as well as ballet and contact improvisation.
Matt’s interest in business and software development also began at UVA while working as an Operations Manager and Project Coordinator. He found that his studies in philosophy and art were easily applied to creating efficient, intuitive and user-friendly applications. Since then, he’s branched out into working on solutions for a range of subject matter, including a large, longterm project supporting statewide research related to genetic testing. Matt enjoys the agile and rapid development that FileMaker offers, allowing him to focus on automating processes and creating web service integrations.
